The beautiful gemstone Citrine is the birthstone for November.
14k Gold Genuine Citrine November Necklace
Citrine is named after the French word Citrin, meaning lemon. The color of citrine ranges from straw and sun yellow, to clay orange, to deep wine-colored Madeira red. The Madeira colored stones were once considered the most valuable, but in modern times the more vivid yellows and oranges have taken their place. Natural bright yellow citrine is the rarest of the quartz varieties.
The sparkling Citrine stone has been used to imitate topaz and was once called Brazilian topaz. Citrine is the gemstone that celebrates the 13th anniversary of marriage, and is the planetary stone for the sun sign of Virgo.
Citrine has been popular for thousands of years and used to be revered for its rarity, though that has changed with time. The ancient Romans used it for beautiful jewelry and intaglio work. It was also very popular for jewelry in the 19th century.
During the Art Deco period between World Wars I and II, large citrines were set in many prized pieces, including the elaborate Art Deco inspired jewelry pieces made for big Hollywood stars such as Greta Garbo and Joan Crawford.
Folklore, Legend, and Healing Properties
Citrine is believed to promote creativity and personal clarity, and reduce self-destructive tendencies. The stone supports the heart, kidneys, digestive tract, liver and muscles. (This previous statement has not been approved by the FDA!).

14k Gold Rhodolite June Birthstone Ring
The name Rhodolite probably comes from the Greek word, “rhodon”, meaning rose. Rhodolite tends to be lighter in color than most other kinds of red-garnet (another way of referring to rhodolite). The mixture of red and violet in rhodolite is very attractive, and purple-red (similar to ruby) is its most sought after color.
Folklore
Rhodolite has been widely known for thousands of years. Rhodolite is found in jewelry from ancient Egyptian, Greek and Roman eras. The famous arkman Noah reportedly used a lantern containing Rhodolite to safely steer his ark through the darkness of night. Many courageous explorers and travelers wore Rhodolite for protection because it was considered a popular talisman and protective stone.
Since antiquity Rhodolite has been astrologically assigned to the planets Mars, Mercury and Pluto.
Rhodolite is said to help those suffering from arthritis, pancreatitis and varicose veins. Although not yet approved by the FDA, the healing power of gems has been touted by medicine men, shamans and healers for centuries. Simply wear the gemstone in close contact to the affected body part, and be sure to consult your doctor just in case!
Pearls
14k Gold Cultured Pearl Children's ring
Throughout history June’s birthstone, the pearl has been revered as one of the world’s most beautiful and magical gems. Its association with love, purity, innocence and feminity is found in the religions and mythology of ancient cultures. Pearls have long been regarded as something very rare, fine and valuable.
Pearls are unique among birthstones because they are formed organically inside a living underwater inhabitant – the mollusk.
Folklore
The ancient Egyptians prized pearls so much they were buried with them. Cleopatra supposedly crushed and dissolved a single pearl in a glass of wine and drank it as a statement that she could consume the wealth of an entire nation in just one meal!
During the Dark Ages, while fair maidens of nobility cherished delicate pearl necklaces, gallant knights often wore pearls into battle. They believed the magic of these lustrous gems would protect them from harm.
Pearls can help the wearer get in touch with the simple, honest things in life. They are associated with dignity, wisdom, tranquility, and charity. They are thought to possess curative powers for stomach disorders, prevent ulcers and heart attacks, and alleviate headaches, high blood pressure and exhaustion.

Kidsgoldjewelrysource.com presents:
A very short history of Genuine Birthstones…
Genuine Birthstones have played an important role in the history of man and womankind dating back to biblical times. Many cultures have used genuine birthstones to enhance health, fortune, and positive energies. Historians trace their use to the Book of Exodus when Aaron, the high priest, forged a sacred piece of armor containing twelve stones representing the twelve tribes of Israel, the twelve signs of the Zodiac and the twelve months of the year. Over the centuries various cultures used different stones for many different purposes including jewelry.
Gift-giving events
A birthday is the most appropriate event for giving jewelry containing a genuine birthstone, however health, good fortune and good wishes are some other significant reasons for bestowing these gifts. The Jewelers Association of America created a formal listing of Genuine Birthstones in 1912 which has been amended from time to time.
Kids Gold Jewelry Source uses the following Genuine Birthstones in its birthstone collection of earrings and rings:
January: Garnet, February: Amethyst, March: Aquamarine, April: White Zircon, May: Emerald, June: Rhodolite, July: Ruby, August: Peridot, September: Sapphire, October: Opal, November: Citrine, December: Blue Zircon
Colorful examples of these genuine birthstones in 14k gold earrings and rings can be seen at Kids Gold Jewelry Source.
